( ) Hillary Clinton Plays Flight Attendant In Mid-Air Political Spoof

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton had some fun Wednesday before leaving Las Vegas. She used the intercom system on her campaign plane to welcome the traveling press corp. and poke fun at herself and the presidential race.

Clinton said, "In a few minutes, I am going to switch off the 'fasten your seat belt sign'. However, I've learned lately that things can get awfully bumpy when you least expect it - so you might want to keep those seatbelts fastened."

"In the event of an unexpected drop in poll numbers, this plane will be diverted to New Hampshire. If you look out from the right, you will see an America saddled with tax cuts for the wealthiest and a war without end. If you look out from the left, you will see an America with a strong middle class at home and a strong reputation in the world."

Brian Melo tried out for Canadian Idol in hopes of kickstarting a career in the music industry. A mere six months later, the Hamilton construction worker is living the rock-star dream: There's a song on the radio, a tour across the country and a CD with his name on it landing on stores shelves today.

Not bad for the 25-year-old Portuguese-Canadian whose older brother encouraged him to audition -- again. Although Melo made it through a couple of rounds in an earlier season, big-bro Larry, also a musician but too old for the contest, urged him to do it every year. This time, Melo assembled his own panel of "judges" and spent time practising in front of them.

"We were just thinking about exposure," Melo says. "They're not really handing out record contracts like they used to, as far as downloading and downsizing in the music business. More>>
